About PawWorth
Free, honest pet insurance tools · updated 2026
PawWorth helps dog and cat owners make confident decisions about pet insurance and vet costs using
real numbers instead of a sign-up form and a sales pitch. Every tool is free, runs entirely in your browser, and
requires no account. We do not sell insurance and we are not an insurance broker.
What you can do here
Our flagship Is Pet Insurance Worth It? calculator estimates the lifetime premiums you'd
pay, the payout you can expect, and the break-even vet bill where a policy starts paying for itself. More tools — a vet
cost estimator, a deductible & reimbursement simulator, and breed-by-breed cost profiles — are on the way.
How our numbers are built (methodology)
- Premiums start from industry averages reported by the North American Pet Health Insurance Association
(NAPHIA) and are adjusted for species, dog size, age, and local cost of living.
- Vet costs draw on published ranges from veterinary teaching hospitals and pet-care financing guides for
common procedures (e.g., cruciate-ligament surgery, foreign-body removal, cancer care).
- Our models estimate expected (average) values for a typical pet and round to practical figures. They are
not quotes, and they can't predict your individual pet's health.
- We update the underlying figures as new industry data is published.
Editorial principles
- Honest math first. We tell you when insurance is not worth it just as plainly as when it is.
- No dark patterns. No fake countdowns, no forced emails, no hidden affiliate pressure.
- Plain language. Insurance jargon is explained, with FAQs on every tool.
- Privacy by design. Inputs stay in your browser and are never stored on our servers.
Important disclaimer
Everything on PawWorth is general information and estimates only — it is not financial, insurance, or
veterinary advice. Real premiums, coverage, exclusions, and vet bills vary by insurer, breed, location, and your pet's
health. Pre-existing conditions are never covered. Always read the policy and consult a licensed agent or your
veterinarian before deciding.
